The Chamber’s key role is to promote economic prosperity within
Wigtownshire for the benefit of its member businesses.
The current Board is seeking to achieve this by supporting initiatives
which deliver increased visitor footfall and spend in Wigtownshire together with our partners the, Stranraer and District
Chamber of Commerce.
By becoming members, local businesses
have the opportunity to help drive forward initiatives that are designed to increase overall trading levels and profitability
by increasing the prosperity of the area for their benefit.
In addition, the Chamber provides members with up-to-date information on a range of topics
relevant to their businesses from the latest Government policies and initiatives through to the work the Chamber is carrying
out on their behalves.
We are also tasked with providing training events and have already organised
and hosted successful IT training and a mini-trade fair in recent months.
As an accredited Chamber affilliated to the Scottish Chambers of Commerce,
we are able to lobby effectively at all levels from local councillors right up to Government Ministers on matters which directly
affect our members.
The Chamber also inherited the duties of the former Wigtown Book Town
Company in 2007 with the exception of organising the annual Book Festival and is now the largest local business organisation
in Wigtownshire.
